Randal's first tour of the WW1 battlefields was in July 1986 with Lt. Col. Graham Parker of Flanders Tours--an event that changed his life. Since then, he has made 15+ tours to the battlefields. In 2005 he organized a tour of Germany and France for his reenacting regiment, and in June 2007 he led the second half of the Western Front Association, United States Branch's biennial tour. While work and family do not allow him to visit France as often as he would like, Randal enjoys helping others plan their trips / pilgrimages to the Western Front.

His specific interest in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the largest German-American battle of the war stems from his fluency in German, his year abroad in Germany and his "real" introduction to the region in 1994. That was the year he first participated in a work weekend with members of the German Remembrance Committee of the Argonne Forest. (www.argonnerwald.de)

With the Centennial of the Great War and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive fast approaching, he is hoping to re-dedicate himself to presenting more information on and a more balanced assessment of the German side of the Meuse-Argonne. If the stars align, Randal plans to spend much of 1918 on the battlefields, sharing his passion and knowledge of the battle with others.

A historian and battlefield tourist by passion, Randal is a financial analyst who works in New York City. He and his family reside in New Jersey. He can be contacted at info@meuse-argonne.com.
